We are located in Ronse, situated in the heart of the Flemish Ardennes, with easy connections to and from the major cities of Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, …. and to the ports of Antwerp-Zeebrugge, Rotterdam and Le Havre. This ensures smooth transport to our customers as well as good accessibility for our suppliers.
About us
Sofel bvba was founded by Johan Degraeve and Paul Den Haese in 1998, after taking over the then three-year-old sole proprietorship Sofel. Sofel’s goal was “to develop, produce and market qualitatively and ecologically better products, aimed at the professional user.”
In the initial phase, the focus was on the automotive sector, as the original product range was aimed at this. The location in Merelbeke quickly became too small, so Sofel moved to its current site in Ronse in 2000. In 2001, the demand for products for cleaning, treating and passivating silo and bulk trucks in stainless steel and aluminium led to the development of products for the surface treatment of stainless steel and aluminium. This department quickly expanded to other sectors with applications in stainless steel and aluminium.
From these two sectors also emerged the sectors:
- products for industrial cleaning for the food sector and catering, cleaning companies, industry, …
- construction specialities: mortar additives, concrete treatment, facade cleaning and protection, …
Sofel realises the sale of products for the surface treatment of stainless steel and aluminium on the Belgian market, the Netherlands, France, Austria and under private label worldwide.
